We had a great time bowling Saturday night and then playing Whoonu at Friendly's! Check out pix from bowling in the slideshow -->
We had our first discussion of our first book today, Just Courage, and we all committed to looking for our triggers that help to remind us to pray more often. Next week's assignment = Chapter 2.
Why We Started This Group:
*To meet other people who love God
*To create a supportive church family for 20- or 30-somethings
*To attract more people our age to our/any church
*To be involved in the community and make a difference
*To study what it means to be a Christian in our age group

9/21 Summary
Don't forget:
- Get the "Just Courage" book by Gary A. Haugen and read Chapter 1 before Sunday.
- No meeting at 9:30 on Sunday; we are going to Panera after church!
- Visit FH.org and decide if you want the group to sponsor a child in Uganda. It would be $3 per month. If not, there are lots of other opportunities on umc.org. For example, if we all gave $1/week, we could essentiall donate one mosquito net every week ($10) to help prevent malaria in Africa with the Nothin But Nets campaign.
- Price shop for pumpkin pie stuff.
- See you Saturday at 7 PM at Hall of Fame Lanes for BOWLING!

9/14 Summary
Our second meeting went really well! Mason came up with our new name, which is the Young Christians. It's simple, it doesn't exclude any other denominations for when we reach out to other churches to join forces, and it gets the point across. Thanks, Mason!
We picked our first two books (good job, Erin!) so that everyone can just buy both at the same time and cut down on Amazon shipping charges or whatever. No homework yet, but make sure you have at least the first book by Sunday, September 28th:
1. "Just Courage" by Gary A. Haugen
2. "It's Not About Me" by Max Lucado
We also talked about doing some sort of service project/fundraiser involving pumpkin pies in October or November. We'll talk more about it next week.
